Variety of Home Gyms

Free weight home gyms consist of several pieces of disconnected items, which are used together while training. You can change the lifted weight by manual removing or adding weight to the bar you are using.

This type of gym may be divided into such subcategories:
     1. Traditional. It is the most common type. Usually it includes at least the following: barbell, 2 dumbbells, weight plates, collars, rack and bench.
     2. Power rack. It is a free standing rack, which is used to for heavy exercises such as squats or dead lifts.
     3. Power cage. It has the same idea as a power rack but its shape is different. The sides of a power cage are rectangular such that the ends of the barbell extend through the rectangle on either side. This means that the lifter is limited in how far he can move forward or backward.

variety_home_gymPlate loaded machine home gym is a combination of free weights and machines. It is a machine without weight stacks and it has to be loaded and unloaded manually using weight plates like those used on free weight gyms. One of its variations the smith machine, is similar to power racks or power cages but has the machine form. The load is placed on the barbell that follows 2 vertical guide rods, which prevent movement in any direction except up and down. Combination smith machines include also certain features of a traditional machine home gym, like a low row or lat pulldown.
